|This gorgeous fresh food pub is searching for a talented & experienced commis chef looking for part or full time hours.
Nestled in a small village near Old Walden, you might think it to be quiet pub in the middle of nowhere when entering the village. But with only a short drive from Bedford & Biggleswade, just down the road from Shuttleworth that host a huge range of events from air shows to hot rods, drawing people to the area from all over the world…business is booming!
They only source fresh local ingredients (sometimes only venturing as far as the allotment) & create new menu’s every 6-8 weeks. The menu is somewhat short but very sweet allowing them to focus on delivering consistent quality to each & every customer. A destination restaurant that is also home to a lovely & lively bunch of locals that like to provide an abundance of atmosphere & hang around the bar most evenings. Their reputation for delicious food & an exciting menu is ever growing, & their aim is to apply for & gain rosette’s & awards.
Like any kitchen you will need to be prepared for every service, handle the pressure of a busy lunch or dinner…or both! Their team is knowledgeable & have a wealth of amazing experience that would be wasted if not listened too. You must be able to follow instructions, be eager to learn & importantly – engage with writing new menu dishes, voice your ideas or new techniques.
As their business expands, there will be room for progression for anyone aiming to climb the kitchen ranks. We are looking for candidates with proven experience within a fresh food kitchen, knife skills, cooking skills, following recipes & cracking on with prep will be essential. Whilst you will predominantly work on our starter section you will need to be a team player & not be afraid to get stuck in to help in other areas of the kitchen when needed.
What do you get in return? The rates of pay are highly competitive & negotiable to the right candidate. Holiday pay, an equal share of daily tips when working (they’re pretty good), a relaxed, vibrant but professional working environment along with the odd drink bought for you after a busy shift. You won’t just be working split shifts, with 1 weekend off every other week- allowing for greater work life balance. The range of hours available are either part time 20-25 hours or full time around 40-45 hours. Take your cooking to the next level, get in touch & join the team.
